The moodboard
Juliet Capulet (Romeo & Juliet)
- The mood of the era was romantic and elegant, and I think a modern-day version of Juliet would retain that.
- Juliet, the only girl of the Capulet family, beautiful, chic and sexy
- Orange, red and green are the most dominant colours, representing the love and sensuality between Romeo and Juliet
- Female body shapes, delicate and fragile just like their love
- The style exudes confidence and class, which as a high-born lady, Juliet had. She would be used to getting things her own way.
- Despite traditional female roles at the time, Juliet is intelligent and thinks for herself. In a more modern setting, this makes her a trendsetter.
- Juliet deals with serious, adult issues in her life, so it is easy to forget how young she is. She is still naïve about some things, and is a dreamer in many ways, which is suggested in my mood board.
- It was love at first sight for Romeo and Juliet and her look should really have that wow factor that makes an instant first impression.
- Juliet is also a tragic figure, as alluded to in the central image.
- Although their romance was brief, Romeo and Juliet’s love was passionate, and that is also something that is reflected in her style.
